Two columns on a big screen

  • On a laptop or desktop, the case workspace now splits into two columns: dictation and findings on the left, the live differential and board questions on the right. Each side scrolls on its own, so a long differential never pushes the input controls out of view while you are still dictating.
  • The rest of the app uses more of the width too, instead of keeping the narrow phone column on a wide screen.
  • Nothing changes on your phone. The layout keys off window size alone, so the portrait workflow and the installed app are exactly as before.

Learn Mode: your list against RadReason's

  • Finish a Learn Mode case with your ranked differential committed and a new card appears under the final result: each of your entries matched against RadReason's list, rank by rank, with one plain sentence on why the ranking agrees or differs, and the entries you didn't list explained below. Committing before the reveal now has a concrete payoff, because the comparison can't run without your list. Teaching cases get the same card from the leading-diagnosis checkpoint.
  • The tool no longer sees your leading diagnosis when it builds its own list. Your committed pick used to be passed into the final reasoning call as context, with an instruction to weigh it neutrally. Neutral instructions are still influence, so now the list is generated blind and the comparison runs afterward, against a ranking that is already fixed. Nothing you enter can move it.
  • The comparison is generated and shown, then gone. Like the rest of the case, none of it is stored.

Quick Recall: one question a day

  • Pearls get read once and forgotten. Quick Recall asks instead: one retrieval question a day, drawn first from the discriminator you missed or marked not sure in yesterday's case and re-asked exactly as you saw it. Answering it a day later, out of context, is the real test of whether the point stuck.
  • Each question returns on a spacing ladder: get it right and the gap grows from a day to two, then seven, then thirty before the question retires, and get it wrong and it comes back in two days. Questions hold a general teaching concept, never details from your case, and your answers stay private to your account.
  • Turn on the daily push in Settings if you want it delivered: one notification at the hour you pick, the question itself in the body, tap to answer. On iPhone this needs RadReason installed to your home screen, same as pearl notifications. Without the push, the card appears in the app when something is due.

Update prompts, and pearls that don't repeat

  • When a new version of RadReason is waiting, the app now offers to reload instead of serving the old build until its cache turns over. Installed apps cache aggressively, so without the prompt an update could take days to reach you.
  • The daily pearl no longer repeats ones you have already received. Selection checks your full history rather than a recent window, and picks the newest unseen pearl first.
  • Pearl notification titles dropped the streak prefix, so the pearl itself is what you see on the lock screen.

Prime: staging reads get a checklist

  • Staging, surveillance, and treatment-response indications now return an assessment checklist rather than a ranked differential. It runs in anatomic order, one line per structure with the criterion that actually decides it, and you can check items off as you work. Nothing is stored, the ticks clear with the card.
  • When the diagnosis is already known, a ranked differential is answering a question you are not asking. The job is systematic coverage, so the review areas fold into the checklist instead of sitting in a second list, and the mimics worth keeping live collapse into alternate considerations you can open when you want them.
  • Diagnostic indications are unchanged. PET/CT joins the exam-type list, and a line under the indication field tells you which shape you are about to get.

Dictation stops when you stop talking

  • On Ask, Talk back, both Prime inputs, and the save-case descriptor, the mic now ends itself after about two and a half seconds of silence. You say your sentence and the text settles, without reaching back to the button.
  • It listens to your voice rather than watching the transcript. Text arrives in bursts and a long uninterrupted sentence can go up to twelve seconds without any new text landing, so a timer watching the text would cut you off mid-thought.
  • Stopping the mic is all it does. The words stay in front of you and you still decide when to send.

Put RadReason on your phone

  • A new install page walks through adding RadReason to your home screen, step by step for iPhone and iPad in Safari and for Android in Chrome. It gets its own icon and opens without the address bar.
  • On iPhone this is also what makes daily pearl notifications work at all, which is not obvious from anywhere else in the app.

Talk back — argue with the differential

  • Disagree with the ranking, add a finding you spotted later, or just ask what you're missing — by voice or text, right under the result. You get a direct answer to your point, an updated differential, and a strip showing exactly what moved and why.
  • It holds its position when you're wrong. Push for a benign call on findings that don't support one and it will say no, give its reasons, and tell you what evidence would change its mind. Agreement is earned, not automatic.
  • Up to three turns per case, and nothing is stored — the conversation lives in your session and clears with the case, like everything else.

German, and honest transcripts in every language

  • German joins English, Spanish, French, Greek, and Brazilian Portuguese. Dictate in German, read in German, or mix — the reasoning is identical whichever language you use.
  • The image-search button now looks up the canonical English term, so tapping it from a German or Greek card lands on the right Radiopaedia article instead of an empty search.
  • Dictation is straight with you about what it checked. Automatic transcript cleanup only runs on English, so non-English dictations now say they weren't auto-checked rather than appearing to have been checked and found clean.

Prime — pre-read approach briefs

  • Enter the indication and exam type before you open a case, and Prime returns a short approach brief: the primary target and the signs that separate equivocal from positive, a ranked list of what else presents this way, the anchoring traps for that presentation, and the review areas that get skipped.
  • The brief stays available through the case and reads as a checklist at sign-off. Learn something new from the chart and you can add it, and the brief updates.
  • Prime never sees your images, it reasons about the clinical question only. Save any point as a Pearl, and it works standalone too, without a case attached.

Teaching cases, reasoning check-ins & sharper grounding

  • Teaching cases are live. Work through pre-authored reasoning-trap cases from the library: reason out loud, the AI pushes back the way an attending would, then compare against the annotated answer. Find them on your home screen.
  • Commit before the scaffold. In Learn Mode you now rank your own differential before any model output appears, and your Progress page builds a private reasoning trajectory from those check-ins over time.
  • Sharper grounding. Criteria modules now respect the exam type, so a CT-based criterion no longer grounds an ultrasound question, and keyword matching got stricter about partial-word hits.

  • Build a daily streak. Create a Pearl or answer a reasoning challenge and the day counts. Weekdays keep it going, weekends never break it.
  • See your activity at a glance. A new heatmap on your Pearls page maps your last year of learning, day by day.
  • Smarter reminders. Your daily Pearl review now arrives at 6pm your local time, wherever you are, and shows your current streak.

Ask — radiology reference, mid-read

  • Ask a radiology question by voice or text without leaving your case — imaging features, criteria, differentials, pitfalls.
  • Answers are structured and attending-grade: direct answer, key points, pitfalls with amber highlight, and a calibrated confidence level.
  • Save any answer as a Pearl with one tap. Ask pearls appear in your Pearls tab alongside case-derived pearls.
